transit romance // back porch video

I was just going to write a little something about "Kiss Me on the Bus," which you can hear an oddly muted version of above, but I just discovered Back Porch Video and that seems more pressing. It was a kind of TRL of punk/alternative rock that lasted 16 years, beginning in 1984. It ran out of Dearborn, Michigan, wherever that is. Its VJs were high school kids, who were often cheeky fucks with bad hair/dispositions. Check the great messages running throughout the video in fluorescent colors along the bottom of the screen. "HELLO CUTES IN SOUTHFIELD!!!!" This rules too much. Peruse all of their videos here.

^ Here is my favorite Talking Heads song, set to called-in messages and self-proclaimed "wacky footage!!!!" from BPV. The best shout-out is obviously "Dad, be careful next time! Have a banana!!" The track is running a little too fast, but it's still great.
